in Bryanston, Johannesburg

We know that a dazzling smile is an asset that can help you feel more confident and happy in your daily life.

Creating pretty pearly whites is an art: as a trusted choice in cosmetic dentistry, our Bryanston practice offers world-class cosmetic dentistry to help you get the smile of your dreams!

Whether you're looking to correct minor imperfections with resin bonding, replace missing teeth with implants or dental bridges, or completely transform your smile with veneers or crowns, our friendly professionals are here to make the dental magic happen.

Ceramic Veneers

Damaged, stained, or worn teeth can be perfected with the help of ceramic veneers. Veneers are thin, custom-designed ceramic shells bonded over the front surface of a tooth for a more appealing, even smile.

With the best quality material and modern dental technology, we'll design you a balanced, natural smile that suits your features. You can even see what the end result will look like before we begin so that you can ensure that you're happy with the final look.

Our dental philosophy is to preserve as much of the natural tooth as possible with minimal reduction of the existing dentition. As such, all of our veneer preparations are guided with 3D printed stents based on the digital smile design to ensure we perform the least amount of dentistry for the best possible result.

When well looked after, veneers can last twenty years or more.

Injection-Moulded Veneers

Achieve a perfect smile: injection-moulded resin veneers are a minimally-invasive dental solution that provides patients with a safe, durable, and cost-effective way to achieve a natural-looking, impeccable smile. This innovative technique involves injecting liquid composite resin into a clear silicone mould made from your unique 3D smile design and then hardening it to create a custom-made veneer that perfectly fits your tooth.

The injection-moulding process allows for high precision and consistency in the production of resin-bonded restorations, resulting in a natural-looking and durable final product. The process is usually completely additive and reversible, meaning no grinding of healthy tooth structure is required. The procedure can be performed for patients of all ages, provided they have relatively healthy dentition, but it is best suited to younger individuals who want to improve the aesthetics of their smile without damaging the underlying tooth structure and without the expense associated with ceramic veneers.

With innovative colour layering techniques, we can create a perfectly balanced, non-invasive restoration that rivals ceramic veneers in aesthetics.

Injection moulding is an excellent option for restoring single teeth where we want to mirror the adjacent tooth to mimic your unique tooth shapes or in cases where one or more teeth are congenitally smaller in size (peg-shaped) to create restorations that seamlessly blend in with the natural shapes and colours of your teeth.

The procedure is carried out in the dentist's chair, and results are achieved on the same day as the procedure.

Even though the restorations are durable, chipping or fracture can occur. In contrast to ceramic restorations, resin restorations can easily be repaired or replaced when needed.

Injection-moulded resin restorations should last at least five years, with the occasional need for polishing or repairing minor chips and fractures.

Crowns, Inlays, Onlays and Overlays

The dreaded 'C-word'! In modern dentistry, gone are the days of full-coverage crowns as our go-to method of restoring damaged teeth.

With the advent of modern ceramic materials (lithium disilicate), we can now be more conservative than ever in our tooth preparations by limiting our tooth preparations to enamel where feasible. This is because ceramic materials can be bonded to enamel much like a resin filling or ceramic veneer would, and the newer generation materials have much-improved strength compared to older porcelain materials.

Previously, we relied heavily on mechanical retention of our restorations where the shape of the residual tooth would be such that the crown is held in place mainly by the tooth, and the cement filled the micro spaces between the crown and the tooth to keep it in place. However, extensive tooth preparation is required for a full coverage crown, and it can, therefore, not be considered a minimally invasive procedure!

For the most part, there are subtle differences in the surface area covered by an inlay, onlay and overlay, but they all refer to ceramic restorations that are bonded to the tooth and held in place purely by the bond of the resin cement with the tooth and ceramic restoration. This allows us to be minimally invasive with our restorations by only replacing the damaged parts of the tooth rather than reducing the tooth down to a stump in order to place a crown.

Is there, then, still a place for full-coverage crowns in dentistry?

Definitely! Extensively damaged teeth with little to no enamel left or several cracks throughout the tooth may require a full-coverage restoration to preserve the tooth in the mouth for as long as possible. Front teeth that are extensively discoloured, mostly after root canal treatment, may also require a full coverage restoration to adequately mask the colour of the underlying tooth.

Our high-quality crowns, inlays, onlays and overlays have a natural appearance and can be colour-matched to blend in with the surrounding teeth. Our skilled team of dental professionals will work closely with you to ensure that your restoration is both comfortable and functional, leaving you with a healthy and beautiful smile.

Dental Resin Bonding

Dental resin bonding, also known as free-hand resin bonding, is a quick and affordable cosmetic dental procedure that improves the appearance of your smile. By applying a tooth-coloured resin material to the surface of your teeth, minor imperfections such as chips, cracks, or discolouration can be corrected. The process is minimally invasive, requires only one visit, and can be completed in under an hour.

Dental Bridges

Smile with confidence again by bridging the gaps in your teeth. Dental bridges are a popular dental restorative option for patients with one or more missing teeth.

The teeth adjacent to the area where you have lost a tooth are prepared for dental crowns. A digital scan is taken to record the area and the opposing dentition, and a temporary bridge is constructed by our skilled clinicians, either by 3D printing methods or free-hand. The digital scan is sent to a dental laboratory where a prosthesis that fits perfectly into the prepared area is constructed. This prosthesis is cemented in place with a 'floating' tooth connected to the adjacent prepared teeth. This procedure can also be performed with implants as the anchor teeth, effectively replacing an entire segment of missing teeth.

Bridges can restore proper biting and chewing function, improve speech, and prevent the shifting of surrounding teeth. They also improve the appearance of your smile. Our comfortable, custom-crafted bridges will put the charm back in your smile with beautiful, natural-looking teeth.
