Amalgam Free Policy
Purpose
This policy serves to document that our practice is an amalgam-free dental facility and therefore does not generate any mercury-containing waste that would require amalgam separator installation or disposal protocols.
Scope
This policy applies to all clinical procedures, staff, and dental waste management within the practice.
Policy Statement
- Our practice does not place, adjust, or remove dental amalgam restorations under any circumstances.
- All restorative work is carried out using alternative materials such as composite resin, ceramics, zirconia, and other biocompatible, mercury-free options.
- Because amalgam is not used in this facility, no mercury-containing waste is produced.
Compliance & Regulations
- In accordance with HPCSA ethical guidelines, SADA environmental waste recommendations, and international standards (WHO, EU, EPA), amalgam separators are only required when amalgam is placed or removed.
- As an amalgam-free practice, we confirm that a separator is not required in our facility.
- This policy will be kept on record and made available upon request during any audit, inspection, or compliance check.
Review & Responsibility
- The practice principal, Dr. Nikita Morar, is responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance.
- This policy will be reviewed annually or if regulations change.
